Press Release Body: KANSAS CITY, MO. (July 30, 2008) - It\'s back-to-school time and that means retail shelves are stocked to overflowing with school supplies. From paper and pencils to arts and crafts, big box stores around the country are peddling school supplies by the truckload. Portable storage can help ease the pain of inventory overflows.

\"Every year, retailers load up on school supplies - and savvy retailers have an overabundance of products for the rush,\" said John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director of the National Portable Storage Association, or NPSA, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the portable storage industry. \"Portable storage serves as a convenient, temporary on-site storage space for the stacks of papers, pencils, glue and other school supplies that need to be quickly replenished for paying customers during this time of the year.\"

Total back-to-school spending for Kindergarten through 12th grade this year is estimated to reach $20.1 billion, according to the National Retail Federation\'s 2008 Back to School Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey. That spells big opportunity for retailers who can keep items in stock. One-fifth of parents nationwide have set aside a portion of their stimulus check for back-to-school purchases. The survey also found that the average family with school-aged children will spend $594.24 on back-to-school purchases, compared to $563.49 last year. Customers are looking for bargains.

\"We\'ve noticed retailers are starting their back-to-school promotions a little earlier this year,\" said NPSA Operations Manager Joel Rathbone. \"Parents are shopping for bargains and might well find them at retailers who leveraged deep discounts by buying in greater quantities. Portable storage can help back-to-school retailers make the most of this important spending season.\"
